Opening in 2000, the Epic Center is a 41,000 square foot four-story community center for the arts and culture located in downtown Kalamazoo. Epic Center was among the first of its kind in the United States. Arts facilities have again and again proved to be economic generators and catalysts for the cities they inspire. Epic Center fills that role in Kalamazoo and throughout Southwest Michigan.
The Epic Center features a community box office, a restaurant, a retail space, two modern performance theatre spaces, and the offices of ten cultural and artistic organizations. The Epic Center also is host to many events and meetings by local and visiting groups and businesses who enjoy the aesthetics, convenience, and artistic experience.
Inside, the Epic Center are headquarters for the following Partners: Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, Black Arts & Cultural Center, Crescendo Academy of Music, Kalamazoo RESA – Education for the Arts, Central City Tap House, Fontana Chamber Arts, Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, Judy K. Jolliffe Theatre, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Public Media Network, Stulberg String Competition, and Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers.
